Although this is a difficult and uncertain time the HSE have been clear it is important for training particularly competence training to continue where it can be done safely and within the current restrictions. As a company Mow-Sure training realise we need to adapt our service to allow for these restrictions and to work safely for the foreseeable future.
As we go forward, Mow-Sure training want to be in the best position to support you in getting your staff trained as restrictions ease further. Over the past 8 weeks we have been working closely with our awarding bodies to ensure training can be delivered safely in accordance to HSE guidelines. We have also been working with industry organisations on short instructional videos.
So, what do we currently have on offer and what have we planned for the months ahead?
We anticipate a gradual return to face-to-face training, but with an ongoing need to comply with restrictions in order to minimise the risk of infection.
Face-to-face training is, slowly starting to take place (e.g. training involving competence certification of workers). We are ourselves starting to deliver some training including Lantra Awards certification. All our face to face training takes place in full compliance with latest government HSE guidance.
In the current climate we feel it’s important to offer something that enables training and assessment to continue where possible. Where it’s feasible we are able to offer some traditional Lantra Awards, face-to-face training and assessment via remote delivery by an Instructor using videoconferencing and slide-sharing. We are also able to offer online Lantra testing that can be “proctored” so the learner can take the test at home without invigilation. However, we are looking forward to getting back to face-to-face as soon as it’s safe to do so.
Even as restrictions ease, we expect it will be necessary to minimise face-to-face contact for quite a while. We are therefore recommending to our customers to consider a “blended” approach, using the resources described above to teach and assess the knowledge element remotely rather than in classroom sessions. This means that face-to-face training/assessment can be limited to the practical elements, reducing contact time, and enabling smaller groups.
